# Weather — NOAA Weather API + MCP Server

> Weather is a free NOAA National Weather Service API and MCP server for AI agents, live at https://weather.morningbrief.link. It proxies api.weather.gov live as clean JSON: current conditions, 7-day forecasts and observed daily weather history (high/low temperature, precipitation) for five US agricultural regions. 3 MCP tools. Free, no API key, no signup, no auth. Nothing is stored — responses are cached for about 15 minutes.

## Datasets

- Current conditions — temperature (°C), humidity, wind speed/direction and sky conditions from the nearest NWS station. REST: /v1/weather/current
- Forecast — the next 7 day/night periods with temperature, wind and short/detailed forecast text. REST: /v1/weather/forecast
- History — daily high/low (°F) and precipitation (inches) summarized from station observations. REST: /v1/weather/history
- Locations — the five covered regions and their coordinates. REST: /v1/weather/locations
- Status — GET / or /v1/status returns service info plus a live api.weather.gov reachability check.

## REST notes

- Base: https://weather.morningbrief.link — all endpoints are GET, return JSON, and need no key.
- Query params: location (IL-central, IA-central, NE-central, IN-central, KS-central; default IL-central), days for history (1–30, default 7), limit where a list is returned.
